| The shawl/blanket |
So we are going to a baby shower on Sunday... What to take?...The blanket/shawl is finished... crocheted in 4 ply, it is in a wave pattern in 3 different fibres, lilac, white and variegated pink/white/lilac. It is possibly a little denser than I expected however it will wash well and hopefully get plenty of use. This pattern (wave) is classed as simple but there are a number of variations of the pattern (this one came out of my head) and there is always a certain amount of counting which can go wrong. Of course that is always remembering that anything in 4 (or 3) ply is going to take a while to achieve... even in crochet. The little bolero looks very cute. I made it from a spare 100 gm ball of the same variegated wool used in the blanket and it obviously is knitted but has a crochet crab stitch (or reverse double crochet) border which gives a lovely finish and once you get a handle on how to do the stitch it goes along quite quickly... the bright pink button is the only closure
The bootees are also made from variegated fiber but this time it is a slightly different colour-way and they are in 3 ply rather than the 4 ply used the other items.
If I had made this photo to size the bootees picture would have faded into the distance and all detail would be lost.
To a certain extent bootees are probably a lost art as they have been replaced by socks.. but I still think there is something nice about a pair of bootees and a hat for a wee baby.
So we will wrap the goodies in the morning and hi tail it to Auckland to the baby shower....
...then it's on with the green and purple throw rug for the above baby to lie on on the floor!
