It does of course have the added advantage of being away to use up some of those leftovers in your 'stash'. I find it impossible to throw away fibre which is longer than a couple of metres (less than that length and they might well be pressed into use as markers!) ... however the interest of creating accessories and amigurumi creatures has managed to give some purpose to being creative on a small scale and to also reduce the amount of 'left-overs' in the cupboard... and salve my conscience!
The three examples here are all made from sock wool (about 3ply) It is variegated and 75% wool super wash and 25% polyamide. Socks made from this wool, wash in the machine, are tossed into the drier and are ready for wear again... any stretching through wear goes back to shape in the process. So taking this thinking a little further left field any accessories made from this fibre will take a bit of punishment ... great for kids toys.. but also pretty enough to be accessories.I altered the pattern a little to give a base circle and love the variety of the variegated fibre.
The two purple ones will go together (with the original third one I trialled this idea on) on a dull black skirt to give it a lift and match purple ankle boots which would otherwise scream slightly. and the beige/grey/blue one which is in fact a little smaller than the other two will be used with a brooch as a lapel brooch... see this idea expanded on the next blog.
