ANZAC Memorial

April 25, 2011...
The day before dawn is suitably sombre and wet. The cenotaph beside the roaring sea a fitting reminder of Gallipoli, and the Harvard planes flying by, just before the skies lightened, an eerie taste of the past.
It is no effort to stand in the heavy pouring rain for a while before dawn to remember those fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers, uncles and great uncles who fought in the ANZAC forces overseas. While not forgetting the role played by the women who stayed behind stepped into new roles and helped keep the country running.
What is a drenching once a year when they were subjected to things which we do not want to know of, while still honouring their commitment to their, and our future,.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
